I've been browsing websites about BTCC and seen that a few are predicting a 25-30 car grid for 2006. How I feel this would be absolutely brilliant, I cant help but think we've had the hope of a 30 car grid before and it just doesnt happen - time after time!!

I love all the gossip over the autumn and winter months of "I am reliably informed that..." or "I'm sure I heard someone say that..." or even "a friend of mine who works for the team said...".

If all is true on the internet - 2006 will see....

WSR (who I know are chasing a new works deal) possibly racing Kia Ceratos!
Seat with 3 drivers
VXR with 3 drivers (but not muller - he's got a drive with WTCC Seat that is confirmed!)
Kartworld with an MG (that I understand is TRUE!)
Techspeed back with Fiona and the flower-powered Astra
HTML (the team that got Production success in 2001)
Mark Proctor back
2 teams of 2 Lexus's (God forbid! :rotfl: )
Team Dynamics have confirmed they've sold 2 of the Integras... but Honda are ready apparently with the S2000 Accord - so Dynamics are rumoured to run Honda's cars next year!
2 x independently run Integras
Paul O'Neill looking to get back in!
Shaun Watson Smith looking to bet back in
Cheverolet possibly making a guest appearance at some races with the WTCC Lacetti!!
GA Motorsport returning

My my, what a grid we have here, role on 2006!

For us at least there'll be one confirmed remaining MG! :happy1:

Sounds promising, but I wouldn't be surprised if numbers dropped again next year. Hopefully they'll pick up again when the rules are fully aligned with the WTCC. Last years works WTCC cars would be very competitive for a privateer planning an attack on the national series.

I think that this says it all. TBH I can't see anyone new coming in until the new regs in 2007.
