Tried to see what Colin Turkington was doing this year as it has gone very quiet at VX. His web site is not listed on google anymore. I just got to dreaming that there was a possibility his Dad could fund him a drive partnering Collard and Hughes. In this dream they were all under the WSR banner. O.K. Iknow it is just a dream but wouldn't it be good if it came true. Even better would be if suddenly a super sponser came forward and put Anthony in a car too. (MG ZS of course.)

from Motorsport News this morning ............

Dumped Vauxhall BTCC driver Colin Turkington says he has unfinished business in the tin-top championship and has not ruled out a return to MG.
The 23 year old joined Vauxhall in 2005 as a works driver but the Astra Sport Hatch proved difficult to tame and he finished sixth in the championship.

However, the Ulsterman said: "There's plenty left in me and my results last season were just down to bad timing. I want a competitive drive in the BTCC to show I am a winning driver, but there aren't that many options out there. I am not going to just make up the numbers because there's no point."

Turkington said he believed the MG ZS which ran in the 2005 championship coutesy of WSR and was driven by Rob Collard, might be tempting. Turkington drove the car from 2002 to 2004.
Turkington added: "That car till has a lot of potential, but I am looking at all options".

I seem to have a habit of predicting things. I start this thread and Autosport have an article on Colin being dropped by VX and thinking of returning to MG. Last year, as a joke, I posted that KIA were entering the BTCC and shortly after they announce plans to evaluate their chances. Spooky or what? My source, WSR's website, tells me that the RAC is backing 2 MG ZSs for this coming season. Not sure of the drivers yet. So, using the powers I seem to have got by posting on forums. I predict it will be Colin and Anthony. Now fingers tightly crossed and wish like mad everybody.

I would like to see Rob Collard and Colin. Why not Anthony? I spoke to AR at the last round of 2005 and i asked him aout finding sponsors to drive. Unfortunately, he has always been a paid driver so if WSR can't afford to pay someone then I can't see Anthony re joining. If, however, WSR's RAC sponsorship package is sufficiently large enough to pay for a driver then bring it on!!! :woohoo:

ps - I still think RC and CT would be good together tho. :uj1:

I seriously hope we can get the team of 2004 back - it was successful, it worked and they were what I thought of as the quiet team who always ran at the front and never during the season did they have the image they were on a budget! 2005 looked like a financial strain.

Reid and Turkington as my 2006 choice.

WSR should have a look at Ben Collins,Indy lights,Team Ascari LMP,3rd in series,Le Mans 24hr,fastest in the wet,ASCAR Champ '03,British GT and Intrenational FIA GT for Embassy Racing in a Porsche GT3.And I think he still holds the fastest lap around Rockingham in ASCAR around the 35 seconds mark (yes they 'clang' when he walks)

A little bird told me that RAC's new owners (AVIVA - Norwich Union's parent co.) is putting a lot of money into thier new aquisition with lots of high profile campaigns, with the sole aim of making RAC no.1 in thier field(s). this entry into the BTCC is no different.... if you catch my drift.....:shhh:

with any luck this same little bird can also get corporate freebies to the events... :fingerscrossed: - damn.... no fingers crossed smilie :(

No AM. BTCC is sponsored by Dunlop. The GF sponsorship ran out at the end of 2004.

I'm not sure as I like all of them for different reasons...

Colin is young and willing to prove himself as a winner.

Reid is a classic and either makes fans or detractors, something I like of him, and he's got loads of experience still to share.

Rob looks as a very well balanced driver knowing when to hold on and when to push it hard.

So each of them could be a winner for MG WSR season...but who will be behind the wheel ???...sadly not me !!!

I suspect Rob Collard will stay, and if anything Colin will re-join as he currently has no drive.

Colin will be eager to prove himself and knows he can do well in the ZS already. I suspect a part of him will want to show up some VXR's this year ;)

Whilst Anthony Reid is a quality driver and a true gent, I suspect his absence from the BTCC will make it hard for him to return.
