It's pretty obvious, we're all into cars here, but what other hobbys do you all have?

Mine are photography and movies, both are expensive, but then again what hobby isn't?

Cannon AE1P + lenses from 28 to 600mm, different attachements depending on what I'm doing. Used to do lots of airshows etc when I had time.

Also Sony 5.1 digital for when I'm a lazy git, but still a 35 film bod. What about you Graven.

Computing obviously, I do a lot of PSP (paint shop pro), I like making webpages for msn groups and designing wallpapers to use in posts on the groups.
I enjoy reading (when I get the chance) and of course spending time with Keith

EOS 20D with standard lens :(, 50mm/1.8, 70-200/2.8L and 2X extender. I like shooting animals and flowers, so I don't really need a wide lens. the 50mm is for the occasional portret. Digital photography was my 'revival' I'm even thinking of buying a secondhand analogue body for B&W. Next on the lens list is a 100/2.8 macro.

Ow yea, I forgot reading.

amongst other things i'm also into fishkeeping. In fact my 3ft freshwater tank got damaged the other day so after saving the fish and finding them a new home a decided to upgrade to a marine setup. Tanks just about ready for it's first resident.
I also happen to clean tanks (for a small gratuity) as a sideline for those that either dont have the time or the technical knowledge.

Photography and the internet take up a lot of my spare time!
When not on the PC either go motor racing or watch it on TV
Knock up the occasional website too and maintain a couple too!

I don't consider myself a photographer, but I enjoy photography, and it would be good to see peeps' photos on a gallery. I used a Praktica MTL3 for yonks, but more recently, a Canon 300D has revived my interest, I put my car stuff here (http://www.mymg.org.uk/).

Incidentally, the names given to the 300D in different countries says something about the nationalities:

UK: 300D ( a good solid model number).
USA: Digital rebel (yee-haw!!!!)
Japan: Kiss (they always were good at whimsical names - Sunny, Starion, etc.)

Messed with computers, building them, playing the odd rally game etc, but now the PC is just a means to an end for other pursuits such as photography, work etc.

Photography, started with a rare Topcon manual 35mm SLR with a range of Exata and Topcon lens (35mm, 58mm, 135mm, 200mm) and todate I have yet to find a camera that took as good a quality pic as this, but a good camera for learning the basics inc. having to use a Gossen Lunar light meter. Now using a Ricoh KR10, and also have a Yashica AF270 of my late father's. Also a Panasonic digital video with Leica lens and the 1.3 Mp unit takes better digital stills than many 4Mp cameras.

Also collect model cars and have an archive of motoring books and magazines for my retirement.

Apart from that, bit of gardening, and CARS CARS CARS...:)

WOW. Now that's something you don't hear of everyday. That must be an intensive hobby.

davebreen

INTENSIVE is the word ,,to train a young hawk to the stage of hunting to a decent standard can take hours everyday for months ,and even then the learning and improving never stops,,a hawk won't reach its best till its seen 3 or 4 seasons hunting, and one season starts at about aug/sept with training and ends about march,,the bird is then allowed to moult and grow new feathers ,,or to breed before starting all over again .
Its incredibly time consuming ,,,going hunting seriously will last half a day easily,,but the rewards are absolutely mind blowing scenes of nature that 99% of people never ever see.
I trained and hunted with a male golden eagle for a short period ,,he had almost a 7 foot wingspan and talons as long as your little finger,,he was a miracle of nature ,,on one hand a pure hunting machine but on the other a friend and he became a part of my very soul,,having to part with him still pains me constantly. You spend so much time with a bird to get it right that they become a member of the family,,,i guess like many people feel about their dogs,,,the difference is ,if you dont train a dog correctly it can't fly to the next country in half a day .

Started 3 photography courses at 2 different local colleges. Completed NVQ Level 1 (can you press a shutter button? :D ) Jacked the level 2 and the AS level in due to lack of facilities at the college and lack of time on my part to compensate for this (although I completed the first part of the NVQ level 2 and the moderator didn't even spot that all the images were printed on my Canon i9950 rather than C41 processing :tongueout

Gear? Nikon D100, Nikon F5, heap of lenses and flashguns and other gear most of which was sourced on fleabay. Didn't get burned once - not for the camera gear anyhow.

Got my first bit of commisioned work too for a local chiropracter. Not sure if I could make a business out of it, but it's a good feeling when someone wants to pay you for your hobby.

Computing is my job, and I'm pretty well seeing it as a means to an end these days. It's a lousy business to be in regardless of where you are in the market. Too many cowboys at the bottom end and too many big-shots going up the food chain. I've worked for small companies, huge companies, end users, resellers - it's a right old mess with most things held together with spit and sellotape from top to bottom. TBQH I'm surprised that anything is achieved at all, but don't get me started ... :soapbox:

Right now I'm working on a small project cataloguing undesireable content on the internet with a view to building corporate gateways for SMB customers. Opensource platforms make the cost of entry much cheaper and more attractive for this market. I've got the opportunity to do it now, so we'll see how things pan out.

Spent way too much money at the movies this summer. Only saw a couple of films that were worth the admission fee though :(

:music: I play the guitar (badly) - I've got a few interesting electrics, one cheapo Aria bass which I annoy the neighbours with now and again, and my old acoustic which my Dad bought me for £12 when I was 9. Also potter around on my electric piano (badly too). I like music, I just don't have a lot of talent

I read quite a bit. Devoured the latest HP in just over 6 hours. Deeply sad.

I play Grand Theft Auto on the playstation which is great stress relief. It's good for that. A little mindless virtual violence never hurt anybody

Wealth creation :D. This is a more recent hobby, and one which has cost me nothing and earned me loads. I can recommend getting total control over your finances a superb hobby for anyone. Can be quite mundane at times, but the results make it very rewarding.

Oh yes, and my little car.

Deja-vu..

How does the Revo compare to the T-Maxx (I Have a T-Maxx, the Revo is hugely more expensive here in holland, I'd like to know if it's worth it)?
I gave up trying to learn flying a modelhelicopter (temporarily, it's still nagging I couldn't do it, and got a bit expensive after crashing it for the 10000th time :()

Here in the UK the Revo is about £40 more than the T-Maxx.
As for my helicopter its this one http://www.rcaircraftmodels.co.uk/1311_1_1867962.html a nice indoor model with about 15 minutes flying time.

Here are 2 Airplane projects I've been working on lately :thumbs1: not finished yet....and built with Depron and brushless electric motor on them...F15 should rock at 70-90 mph.

A 23cc engined car too....called Marder and scaled to 1/5.
