From WSR/Team RAC Press Office:

In preparation for its 2006 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) assault, Team RAC has signed a sponsorship deal with XPart, the company responsible for the supply of genuine MG Rover parts. Team RAC will be competing in the championship with two WSR race-prepared MG ZS cars and parts provided by XPart will be used to support the team's challenge.

"XPart is delighted to be part of Team RAC's 2006 BTCC efforts," commented John Parkinson, XPart chairman. "By supplying the team with genuine MG Rover parts, we can be sure that we are providing them with the best possible quality in their championship bid. MG is a great British racing brand and we are pleased to provide support which ensures that this fantastic tradition continues." The sponsorship deal is worth around £20,000.

The 2006 BTCC season opener will be held at Brands Hatch on Sunday 9th April. Driving for Team RAC will be Colin Turkington who secured race wins in an MG ZS during the 2002 and 2003 seasons, and Rob Collard who secured victory driving the MG ZS at Brands Hatch in the 2005 championship.

"We are extremely pleased to receive support in the form of genuine manufacturer components from XPart," commented Dick Bennetts, Team RAC team principal. "XPart is doing an excellent job providing MG Rover owners with replacement parts for their road cars and I know that we will receive the same high level of support. By using genuine replacement parts we can be sure that all components fitted to the car will be of the highest quality and we will not encounter compatibility issues."

As part of the sponsorship package XPart will receive high visibility branding on both MG ZS cars promoting its AutoService centre network, event hospitality and image rights.

XPart is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Logistics Services UK Limited, one of the automotive industry's leading supply chain management companies. XPart has been responsible for the supply of all genuine MG Rover parts since 2001 and has established more than 200 XPart Autoservice centres (www.xpartautoservicecentre.com), designed to give owners access to specialist MG Rover service and repair.

Does this mean with the extra sponsorship we'll see a third MG on the grid for this w/e???

Only a small one on the front. Hopefully they'll get a big one on the rear wings.

Eagle eye ! The way i see it is that it's a deal worth 20 grands worth of parts, not cash. Wont affect the decision for a 3rd car one bit in my opinion !

Jerry look at the front and rear of the cars at the lower level on the bumpers and it says www.xpartautoservicecentre.com, (except its not visible but they missed the ".com" on two and it just said "xpartautoservicecentre com")

Jerry - Re: that conversation that you, Dee-jay and I had about the BSM, Auto Windsreen, RAC text on the lower level of the doors at the launch at Autosport show and you said the cars didnt have the text on the doors and Dee-jay said they did - take a look in the gallery dude (you might well be wrong again!!) :confused2
