Xero to join BTCC grid at Oulton.

Xero Competition will become the newest addition to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park with a single car entry for ex-GT racer Adam Jones.

The team, based in nearby Warrington, will field a Super 2000 specification Lexus IS200 in its home race as Jones returns to full-time racing in the UK, having spent a number of seasons competing in both Europe and the United States driving a variety of GT cars.

Jones has also competed in single-seaters, finishing second to Kimi Raikkonen in the Formula Renault UK Winter Series back in 2000 and said he was looking forward to returning to a format of racing where the focus is on him – rather than on sharing a car with a number of other drivers.

"For the last four years I have been racing in Europe and the USA in long distance GT racing," he said, "which has meant sharing the driving with other team members and conserving the car throughout the race. Now I am really looking forward to going all out in sprint races in a car that is built around me and my driving style without compromises."
The entry into the BTCC will see Jones compete with backing from, amongst others, the Birmingham Chamber of Industry while the team will also support the Sunfield residential school – a facility for children with severe and complex learning needs - during the rest of the season. Jones and the Xero team will also give fans the chance to get their name on the car in a scheme similar to that used by Martyn Bell in the Geoff Steel Racing BMW.

The addition of the Xero Lexus will take the number of cars at Oulton Park up to 18 with the In-Front Motorsport Alfa Romeo of Mark Smith set to return to the grid after the team was forced to miss the trip to Mondello Park with gearbox problems.
