this may be a daft question but how much turn is there in the light dimming rheostat.i get about 1mm each way and has no effect on the dash lights

:yikes: just saw the price of these on ebay.£39.95 new.anyone know the spec of these,ie resistence and pin outs.surely i can get an off the shelf one from maplin and make it work

TBH, you are best off by-passing this! The turn should be more than what you are getting. The reason I say by-pass is because you tend to either have light or not, so either fit a flick switch or just remove altogether as this often improves the power of the instrument light.

I'm sure mine (1975) had a lot more than that, if memory serves me right, pretty much a whole turn. But as Martin says, it was either on or off for me, and never very impressive either :o
