Today I made my mind-up. My last-of-line TF is not a patch on the class that was my 'F'. So much so that I'm strongly of the mind that its going to go The Journey. My biggest gripe is about the handling of the thing. Its softs, it rolls, scraps it mudflaps before washing out in terminal understeer.
Now, I've come close to pranging it before with this dull handling statement, but today I actually did. Lots of body roll, understeer with no throttle adjustablility and then - I braced myself- bang! Kerbed. And I'm so annoyed with myself. I've just come off the busiest of nightshifts and I still cannot sleep I'm so damm annoyed with myself.
And another thing, the steering wheel, its too big and has a **** rim.
Having X power springs fitted (and the suspension correctly aligned) made a very big difference to the handling of Elaines TF.

I'm looking to have it booked into Lada Suspension during half term to be properly set-up. I've heard some good reports about them.
Also, over on eXpowerforums they're saying the Conti tyres are duff.
So, X-power springs and powerflex bushes it is. I hope thats all it requires and not stuff like sub-frames and arms.
The wheels are booked in for repair on monday. They *should* repair.

Bad luck, Steve!
Is it not the extra weight of the glass rear screen causing the handling problems? :rolleye:

It's the extra weight of Chief Wiggum behind the wheel, Martin! :rotfl:

Hydrogas conversion :o
IMO going to conventionally sprung suspension was a step backwards. No TF i've driven comes close to the excellent balance of fine ride and handling like the older F did.

You need to try a 2005 TF with the later revised suspension set-up, if you haven't already. The boy Sward's comments notwithstanding, mine certainly offers almost all of the handling improvment of the original TF, and — surprisingly — much better ride than the F. It really is the finished article, IMO.

perversely, my '05 TF rides better than my 'F', but then my F was highly modified in the suspension department, other than it hadn't been lowered. I kept banging on about this, but the (hydra)gas was Class. I think MG-R have gone too far in the other direction with my 05TF, especially with the 15" wheels. And that 22mm anti-roll bar, well, I did tell myself.
F handling was also much more secure than the TF.

It gets worse; at least one front arm is bent and one wheel is beyond repair.
I'm now need a direction, replace the damaged wheel or go the whole hog and buy a new set? If so what? Genuine MG-R 16" rims or 17" rims. Please advise.

i've heard very good reports of xpower springs on TF's even the last 05's.
also a good excuse to dump the 15's and conti's and get some 11 spoke 160's with goodyears. or try out mike satur's 17'' trophy's:D www.mikesatur.co.uk
