Hi guys
New here. One time Midget owner. Still have a love for them. Maybe will get another sometime.
I used to own the above car. Orange, Chrome bumper model. Sold it some 15+ years ago. It was in very nice condition and was bought by someone that promised to look after it! I had it for over 12 years!
Thing is, I did a quick check on the DVLA site. The car is still on the road - taxed this year. Im in Margate and I have an idea that the car is somewhere in the Medway towns area. My wife swears that she saw it while up that way some months ago. If any one can assist, I should love to hear from the current owner. Find out how the old girls doing!

Hi Jim
Welcome to the site.
The MGOC and the MGCC will have a register and there's every likelihood it will registered. If not, I know the MGOC do offer a where-are-you? service for cars and people trying to trace the history etc.
I guess from the number plate yours would have been a round wheel arch model? These are definitely the most popular of the Midgets and will sell for anywhere between £2 and £5000 privately depending on condition, or for even more money from traders/specialists.

Guys, thanks for your input. Mal, thanks for digging that up for me. I am hoping to go one step further and make contact with the current owner. Would be lovely to see the car again.
Martin... Thanks for your input. I bought the car in 1978 for £850 from its second owner in Sunbury on Thames. I sold it around 15 years ago for £2375 - and very pleased I was at the time.
It was in very good condition with something like 85k on the clock. I have to say, I have a good feeling about finding it again. I'm enjoying the research...

Hi Jim
I can post a query on the MGOC BBS if you like. Perhaps someone may recognise the number and mention it to the owner?
I have always fancied a Midget, but seem to have only ever had either the Roadster or the BGT. The latter was a more recent purchase.
However, owning a classic car is a bit roller coaster! Whilst spares are absolutely no problem now (probably better than when you owned yours) the cars can be ruinous either from a maintenance perspective, or worse, the slippery slope to modifying! The little A Series can be made to put out in excess 150bhp, and there are plenty of engine mods such as twin cam heads etc and turbo or superchargers etc that will set you back the price of a decent new car! Or there's the K Series route with a 180bhp VVC 1800 fitted into the Midget as per the guys at Frontline in Bath! Need I say more!
But for a pure nostalgia trip, you probably don't get easier than a Midget or B for the ease of ownership and simple charm of a solid back axle on leaf springs, and lever arm dampers, all mixed in with a spot of ferrous oxide!

I had a Gorgeous Mk2 Midget with a 1098cc
The thing had been built to do hill climb and was so much fun. The suspension was rock hard and the thing handled better than most cars on the road, top speed wasn't so good but it was great getting there!!!
Good luck finding it.
If anyone knows of the following as well:
MG TF 2003
RF03 FOF (if I remember correctly?)
Mini Cooper S Works 1998
R334 MPB
MG ZT190+ 2003
T 22 NAT

Martin... That would be really helpful if you were happy to do that for me. Thank you very much. I have tried the MGCC (Car club as distinct from the owners club) - they have no record of the car.
You're right about the roller coaster thing. I used to maintain the car myself. As I got older, I found myself less inclined to want to tinker (as was necessary... almost every week). Fun to drive but it became tedious. That was a major factor in selling the car. Oh, that and the advent of children. Not wholely practical if you have a two seater as a main drive!

Jim
I have added the enquiry. If you have a photo you could scan, we could add it to this thread as well as the MGOC thread I started.
