Well the beaker has failed its MOT on headlights and the only option is replacement of the whole unit (pair) new ones are £150 so if anyone has any MGF units kicking around for less, can you let me know

Cheers!

What was wrong with the old lights Al?

the internal reflectors are making the beam too dim. I've phoned a few places and the reflectors are not available seperately (officially). the major breaker in the area doesn't have any either

I guess thats due to corrosion on the reflectors. Something to keep on eye on next time ours is due.

not the shiny rear reflectors, but the glass lens bit. it's gone milky. fairly common on the older cars (i'm told)

There was an MGF in Nutbourne, but that was quite heavilly stripped out when I last saw it, but it is possible they had removed the headlamps for the store...

I'm popping into Seward in about 2 hours time to collect my rubbers (ooh err!), I'll ask if they have any in stock they want to let me have for a discount again :D

Are they £150 for the pair, or £150 each (of which you need a pair of) ?

well I've asked the garage to proceed with the order. thanks anyway rob. might be worth knowing if any other forum members have the same problem.

F's really do suffer from milky lenses :( one option is to fit TF units but IIRC youn nned to change or mod the bumper as well

Yes, you need to change the bumper and the plugs on the wiring loom to fit TF lamps to the F.
