Hi, i'm new on this site and have a few questions so if any one can help me please do. I have just bought a 1987 caterham super seven rolling chassis and pretty much all the parts to build it up along with a 1600 kent x-flow and 4 speed box. However it came with a new set of minilight copys on it and personally i think there ****. I spoke to someone about getting different wheels and he said something about the more modern wheels would not fit the live axel caterham. Could someone please shed some light why? cheers, benny.

I don't see why there should be a problem provided the size, BCD and offset are correct.

Thats what i thought, maybe at worst it would be machining up some custom hubs. Hopefully not tho. Cheers.

Welcome to brit-cars.com :drink2:

Well, they wont be Caterham hubs, will they?

I would suspect they would be from a mass production vehicle, in which case, the wheel choice should be plentiful?

The only thing I can think of is a change between metric and imperial sizes, the older Metros for example used imperial wheel and tyre sizes and many owners have had to change to the metric equivalents, which are slightly different... but I can't see why a Caterham with potentially the same issue should have any problems changing?

Maybe they think they wont fit under the arches :D

on the plus side, there are literally thousands of caterham peeps out there who are real anoraks and store all there old stuff. You would have absolutely no problems in picking up a second hand set, if you knew what style you were looking for.
